The Brixton paedophile Mark Penfold, who boasted about abusing children, was arrested in 2024 for sending videos of newborn maltreatment to filthy people on a fetish website. As presented before Inner London Crown Court on Tuesday, March 12, Mark Penfold, 53, of Turberville House, Brixton, was arrested in 2009 and 2015 for similar offences involving obscene images, but the investigations were dropped before his third arrest in December of the previous year.

Law enforcement quickly arrived at Mark Penfold’s South London home on December 18, 2023, after he admitted to an undercover agent that he had abused children. But a later investigation of his claims turned up no proof to support them. The claims, according to Judge Ian Darling, are “concerning” since they show a specific interest, but “based on the evidence presented, it seems more fantastical than factual.”

Three cell phones were seized by police authorities during the raid on the father of three’s home. One of the phones was a Samsung that included 361 pornographic images and videos, 122 of which were categorised as Category A, the most serious category. A video of the attack on a one-year-old baby is included in the images.

According to prosecutor Gregor McKinley, Mark Penfold spoke with an undercover investigator for more than two weeks, sharing details of the child sexual abuse material he had been watching online as well as thoughts of parental abuse. He also admitted to sharing the disgusting material with other immoral people.

Mr. McKinley told the court that the distribution claims stemmed from his acknowledgement, albeit occasionally and in a limited way, of sharing photos with other members of the fetish network who had comparable interests.

On December 18, police arrested him after he claimed to be involved in illegal activities with kids. An examination of Mr Mark Penfold’s claims has revealed no proof that this activity actually occurs.

At Croydon Magistrates’ Court on December 19 of last year, Mark Penfold acknowledged guilt to three charges of distributing indecent photos and three allegations of producing indecent images, but he refused to respond when questioned.

Mark Penfold represented himself on Tuesday, blaming drug addiction and childhood trauma for his abnormal actions. He clutched his handwritten mitigation speech and stammered as he said he was “profoundly humiliated, repulsed, and appalled,” adding, “I entirely attribute my actions to cocaine addiction and mental health challenges.”

Mark Penfold’s “specific concern in parental child abuse” and his admission that “age was a notably stimulating issue” were highlighted by Judge Darling’s decision that only immediate custody could protect the public.” Even while the evidence suggested that Penfold’s claims of abuse were unlikely, Judge Darling voiced worry over the “particular identifying” of alleged victims. The most heinous pictures showed a very young child’s mouth and vagina being penetrated, indicating severe discomfort.” Judge Darling said, “I presume you did not contemplate the anguish those children were enduring, as your sexual inclinations superseded any consideration of their circumstances.”

Mark Penfold was given a 20-month prison sentence by Judge Darling, who noted that the paedophile’s tendencies constitute “an entrenched issue” and that he will need the support of prison services to avoid recidivism.

Mark Penfold was placed on the sex offender registry for ten years and given an eight-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
