Eamon Brewster, aged 70, formerly of Parker Lane, Burnley, Lancashire, was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment at Preston Crown Court on Saturday, 15 August 2026, after pleading guilty to breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
The court heard that in 2019 Brewster was made subject to an indefinite SHPO and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life. Under the specific terms of the order, Brewster was required to register any new device capable of accessing the internet with the police within three days of purchase.
In August 2026, Lancashire Police officers attended Brewster’s address to conduct a scheduled home compliance visit. During the inspection, officers discovered a newly acquired laptop belonging to Brewster, which had not been declared to the authorities.
Inquiries confirmed that Brewster had been in possession of and using the unmonitored laptop for several weeks, prompting his immediate arrest.
Appearing before Preston Crown Court, Brewster pleaded guilty to:
- One count of breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO)
The presiding judge imposed a custodial sentence of one year on Brewster.
