The Offender Database reported that Matthew Johnston, the Tottenham and Littlehampton Paedophile, a London man, has been convicted in court for raping and sexually abusing a young child in Littlehampton over several years.

Matthew Johnston, 49, of Haynes Close in Tottenham, London, commenced grooming and sexually assaulting the victim in 2014 when the victim was four years old.

Over several more years, Matthew Johnston perpetrated multiple rapes and sexual assaults on the youngster.

Matthew Johnston frequently participated in Comic-Con-style events and exploited gatherings centred on Star Wars and superheroes to manipulate the victim.

The abuse was reported to Sussex Police in December 2024, prompting support for the victim and his family from specialist officers and the initiation of an investigation.

Matthew Johnston was apprehended and subsequently indicted on two counts of child rape involving a victim under 13, two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, two counts of inducing a child under 13 to participate in sexual conduct, and one count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

On Friday, 10 October, he was convicted of all charges at Hove Crown Court.

Matthew Johnston has been detained to appear in court on 16 January 2026.
