In 2022, the Offender Register reported that Matthew Payne, who repeatedly sexually assaulted and raped a girl from the ages of eight to twelve in the 1990s, had been incarcerated.
At King’s Lynn Crown Court, Matthew Payne was convicted of the historical child sex offences.
Police reported that the abuse began when the victim was approximately eight years old, occurred on numerous occasions, and culminated in the rape of the victim.
The offences occurred from the mid-1990s to the beginning of the 2000s and persisted until the victim was twelve years old.
In August 2019, the victim disclosed that she had been sexually assaulted by the 52-year-old. Subsequently, the police interrogated him.
Payne, a resident of Cromer Road, Norwich, was convicted of two counts of rape, five counts of indecent assault, and one count of indecency with a minor.
He had previously entered a not-guilty plea to all the charges.
Payne was sentenced to 15 years at King’s Lynn Crown Court, with 14 years to be served in prison and 1 year on licence.
Additionally, an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order was issued to him.
