A former Northamptonshire Police special constable, Wissem Bonafia, was given a 22-year prison sentence for several sexual offences against adults and children.

Northamptonshire Police got information in 2020 about possible illicit child photos that 48-year-old Wissem Bonafia may have.

They went to his Barton Seagrave house in August, where he was taken into custody, and several computer devices were confiscated.

Upon closer examination, it was discovered that they contained a large number of pornographic photos and movies of different girls ranging in age from prepubescent to seventeen, many of which Bonafia had taken himself.

The crimes were committed between 2014 and 2019.

After being arrested a second time in 2022, Bonafia was charged with six counts of raping a woman who was 16 years of age or older, one count of assault by penetration of an object or thing, six counts of assaulting a person thereby causing them actual bodily harm, five counts of taking an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child, four counts of making an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child, one count of causing or inciting a girl aged 13 to 15 to engaging in sexual communication with a child, and one count of committing an act or series of acts with the course of public justice.

Two more counts were added: one count of rape and one offence of forcing or persuading a child to participate in non-sexual conduct. The trial was scheduled for February 16, 2026.

On the first day, Bonafia entered a guilty plea to six of the charges, including one count of assaulting someone and causing them actual bodily harm and five counts of taking an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a minor.

Over the course of two weeks, the jury heard the evidence against the remaining twenty-one.

As the trial went on, Bonafia entered guilty pleas to four more charges of attacking someone and causing them actual bodily harm.

When the trial concluded on March 30, Bonafia was convicted of an additional twelve crimes.

Three counts of rape, one of having intercourse with a minor, and one of taking an obscene picture or pseudo-photograph of a kid were all ruled not guilty.

He reappeared to the same court at the end of last week (June 26) and was given a 22-year prison sentence.
