A 26-year-old man from Gravesend has been sentenced to 18 years and six months’ imprisonment at Maidstone Crown Court after being convicted of an eight-year campaign of rape, sexual assault, stalking, and coercive control targeting a woman in her own home.
Tommy Eastwood, of Gravesend, appeared for sentence on 2 October 2026 following a protracted inquiry led by Kent Police safeguarding detectives.
The criminal investigation began in December 2024 when the victim made a formal complaint to police detailing sustained stalking and controlling behaviour committed by Eastwood. Following his initial arrest, the survivor disclosed that she had been subjected to repeated non-consensual sexual assaults and rapes by Eastwood spanning the same multi-year period.
Police inquiries confirmed that Eastwood repeatedly attended the victim’s residential address in Gravesend to carry out the sexual attacks, exploiting her domestic setting and inflicting prolonged psychological distress and trauma. He was arrested for a second time in April 2025.
Eastwood entered not guilty pleas across the board, denying that any stalking, coercive control, or non-consensual sexual activity had occurred. The case proceeded to a contested trial at Maidstone Crown Court, where on 14 April 2026 a jury rejected his defence and unanimously convicted him of all five counts on the indictment.
Under the provisions of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992 and Section 49 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933, all victims and complainants connected to sexual offence proceedings are protected by automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity. Publishing, broadcasting, or disseminating any details, names, addresses, workplaces, or photographs capable of leading to public identification is strictly prohibited under UK law.
Eastwood stood convicted of:
Two counts of rape
One count of sexual assault
One count of stalking
One count of engaging in coercive and controlling behaviour
Passing sentence on 2 October 2026, the Crown Court judge handed Eastwood an immediate custodial term of 18 years and six months’ imprisonment.
Alongside the custodial sentence, the court ordered:
Mandatory lifetime notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register under the provisions of the Sexual Offences Act 2003
An indefinite restraining order prohibiting any direct or indirect contact with the survivor
Strict statutory post-custody licence supervision conditions enforceable upon release from prison
