A 22-year-old man from Cheshire described as a violent predator has been handed an extended 21-year sentence at Chester Crown Court after admitting to years of rapes, assaults, knife threats, and coercive control against two women.

Jacob Evans, of Baddington, near Nantwich, appeared for sentence on Monday 12 October 2026 following an extensive inquiry conducted by Cheshire Constabulary.

The court was told that Evans subjected two women to sustained campaigns of physical and sexual abuse between 2021 and 2025. Both victims reported to detectives that Evans repeatedly subjected them to physical assaults and rapes, coercing them into degrading sexual acts through direct threats of violence. During one terrifying incident, Evans threatened one of the women with a knife.

In addition to physical violence, Evans exerted total control over their day-to-day lives. He regularly searched through the victims’ mobile phones and subjected them to financial exploitation. One woman described how Evans bullied her into allowing him to drive her car without valid insurance. He also forced her to sell off her personal possessions to pay for his sports clothing, alcohol, a new iPhone, and an Apple Watch. Once the devices were purchased, Evans promptly sold them on and pocketed the financial proceeds.

Following reports made by the victims, Cheshire Constabulary arrested Evans. When taken into custody, Evans exhibited utter indifference, telling arresting officers that he “wasn’t worried” about the accusations. Across two separate formal police interviews, Evans denied all wrongdoing and answered “no comment” to all questions put to him by detectives before being charged and remanded into custody.

Evans maintained his innocence until his scheduled trial at Chester Crown Court, only relenting on the opening day of proceedings when he formally changed his pleas to guilty on all counts.

Under the provisions of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992 and Section 49 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933, all victims and complainants connected to sexual offence proceedings are protected by automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity. Publishing, broadcasting, or disseminating any details, names, addresses, workplaces, or photographs capable of leading to public identification is strictly prohibited under UK law.

Evans pleaded guilty to:

Four counts of rape

One count of sexual assault by penetration

Two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH)

Two counts of making threats with a bladed weapon

Two counts of controlling and coercive behaviour

Passing sentence on 12 October 2026, the Crown Court judge handed Evans an extended sentence of 21 years under dangerous offender legislation, comprising 15 years of immediate imprisonment and an extended licence period of six years.

Alongside the extended custodial sentence, the court ordered:

Mandatory lifetime notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register under the provisions of the Sexual Offences Act 2003

An indefinite restraining order barring any direct or indirect contact with both survivors

Strict statutory extended licence supervision conditions enforceable upon release from prison
