A 36-year-old man from Keighley has been sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment at Leeds Crown Court after being convicted of a prolonged series of sexual offences, domestic violence, and physical child abuse spanning a seven-year period.

Andrew Warren Lowe, of Belgrave Road, Keighley, appeared for sentence on Wednesday 14 October 2026 following a contested trial before a Crown Court jury.

The court was told that Lowe subjected a woman to relentless abuse between 2010 and 2017. Over the course of seven years, Lowe repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted the victim behind closed doors, whilst enforcing coercive and controlling behaviour, repeated physical attacks, and systematic emotional cruelty.

The court heard that Lowe’s violence also targeted a young child living within the household. Lowe physically assaulted the boy, exposing him to severe domestic hostility rather than providing a safe and nurturing upbringing. The lasting psychological and emotional impact of the violence on the child was formally acknowledged by the court.

The non-recent offences were formally reported to West Yorkshire Police approximately three years after the abuse ceased. Detectives launched a complex safeguarding investigation, commending the exceptional courage of the survivor and the child throughout the extended inquiry and trial process.

Confronted with the evidence in police interviews and throughout the court trial, Lowe refused to accept any accountability, denying every charge and displaying a complete absence of remorse. The jury rejected his denials, finding him guilty of all counts on the indictment.

Under the provisions of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992 and Section 49 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933, all victims of sexual offences and child complainants connected to criminal proceedings are protected by automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity. Publishing, broadcasting, or disseminating any details, names, addresses, workplaces, educational facilities, or photographs capable of leading to public identification is strictly prohibited under UK law.

Lowe stood convicted of:

Multiple counts of rape

Sexual assault

Engaging in coercive and controlling behaviour

Assault occasioning actual bodily harm

Assault on a child

Passing sentence on 14 October 2026, the Crown Court judge handed Lowe an immediate custodial term of 13 years’ imprisonment.

Alongside the custodial sentence, the court ordered:

Mandatory lifetime notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register under the provisions of the Sexual Offences Act 2003

An indefinite restraining order prohibiting any direct or indirect contact with the adult survivor and the child

Strict statutory post-custodial licence supervision conditions enforceable upon release from custody
