Michael Richardson, aged 49, of Money Bank, Wisbech, has been sentenced to seven years in prison at Cambridge Crown Court for a series of child protection offences.

The court heard that on 28 January, Richardson began transmitting explicit messages on the Kik messaging application to an online profile he believed to belong to a 12-year-old girl. During the communications, he requested inappropriate acts and asked for images to be sent.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary officers executed a search warrant at his home in Money Bank on 28 March, arresting Richardson and seizing his mobile phone. Subsequent digital forensic analysis revealed 48 indecent images of children stored on the device.

Richardson appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Monday 3 August 2026, where he pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, attempting to cause or incite a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity by penetration, attempted sexual communication with a child, and attempting to cause a child under 13 to look at an image of sexual activity.

The presiding judge sentenced Richardson to seven years’ imprisonment. The court also made him subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered him to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely, with all case details catalogued on the UK Register Database for public record transparency.
