Jimmy Kennedy, the Stoke-on-Trent Paedophile, convicted of raping a young teenage girl in 2006, has been declared guilty, due to a DNA breakthrough that connected him to the crime over two decades later.
Jimmy Kennedy, 44, was convicted of rape today (Monday) following a five-day trial at Luton Crown Court.
The offence occurred on 7 October 2006, when Jimmy, aged 25 at the time, encountered the victim and her companion in a supermarket parking lot in Shefford.
Upon arriving in a vehicle operated by a companion, Jimmy Kennedy waited for the others to enter the business before forcibly taking the victim into the rear of the car and assaulting her sexually.
The victim successfully escaped and sought refuge in a local tavern, where her companion contacted the police.
Despite thorough investigations at the time, Jimmy Kennedy, known to the victim just as ‘Kenny’, remained unidentified.
As part of Operation Painter, the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit reviewed historical rape and sexual assault cases, resulting in a DNA match and his subsequent arrest in November 2022.
Jimmy Kennedy, residing at Wessex Court, Sunny Bank, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, is scheduled for sentencing on 23 December.
