Mark Simpson, the Wallsend Paedophile, who clandestinely observed individuals while they disrobed at a holiday resort in Lincolnshire and accumulated illicit photos of minors, has been sentenced to over three years in prison.

Mark Simpson, previously residing at Bellshill Close, Hadrian Park in Wallsend, was sentenced today, Monday, 20 October, at Newcastle Crown Court.

The 51-year-old had already entered a guilty plea to 15 charges, encompassing numerous instances from 2017 to 2023.

Two of the allegations pertain to voyeurism, with a total of 34 distinct events.

Thirty incidents occurred at the changing rooms at Butlins Skegness, along with four instances at a different site.

Mark Simpson captured video and photographs of his victims while they changed, but he was apprehended on 15 April 2023 after a man complained that his wife had been surveilled by him.

Officers located Mark Simpson, and his phone was confiscated and submitted to the digital forensic section for data extraction.

A member of the Paedophile Online Investigation Team evaluated the device and found it contained numerous voyeuristic videos.

They also discovered videos featuring obscene photos of minors.

A concealed folder was found, containing an application that displayed conversation logs in which Mark Simpson had shared illicit and forbidden photos of minors.

In addition to the two charges of voyeurism, Mark Simpson also pleaded guilty to:

  • Two charges of distributing indecent images (multiple images and videos)
  • Nine charges of making indecent images (dozens of examples per charge)
  • One charge of possession of a prohibited image of a child
  • One charge of taking an indecent image

Mark Simpson was jailed for 38 months.
