Darryl McLaughlin, then associated with residential addresses in Irvine, North Ayrshire, and Paisley, Renfrewshire, was found guilty of four criminal charges relating to domestic abuse and violence against children on 3 August 2026.
The criminal proceedings followed an investigation initiated in October 2024, when allegations of non-recent domestic abuse were reported to police.
The court heard that McLaughlin carried out an assault causing injury against a female partner.
The prosecution also detailed charges involving children, establishing that McLaughlin had physically assaulted two children and engaged in threatening or abusive behaviour directed towards a child.
The court was told that McLaughlin had an established history of violent offending, having previously been convicted in 2009 of assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
Following trial proceedings, the court returned guilty verdicts against McLaughlin on:
- One count of assault to injury
- Two counts of assault against children
- One count of threatening or abusive behaviour against a child
Following the convictions on 3 August 2026, the presiding judge adjourned the matter, with formal sentencing scheduled to take place on 1 September 2026.
