In 2026, a 33-year-old man was remanded in custody after pleading guilty to raping a woman inside a Hull hotel bedroom following her birthday celebrations.

Aaron Robinson, of no fixed address, appeared before Hull Crown Court where he changed his plea to guilty on one count of rape after legal proceedings had commenced. A second charge of rape, which Robinson denied, will lie on file.

The court heard that the female victim had been staying at a hotel in Hull after spending the evening socialising with friends for her birthday. Robinson, who was also resident at the hotel and had been taking cocaine during the night, entered the woman’s room, climbed into her bed, and began touching her without permission.

Prosecuting barrister Stephen Robinson told the court that the victim immediately and unequivocally rejected his advances, ordering him to get off her. Robinson ignored her protests, repeatedly stating “come on, come on” while attempting to kiss her. Despite her clear refusal, Robinson got on top of the victim, instructed her to “shush”, and carried out the rape.

The following morning, the victim alerted a friend to what had occurred and formally reported the crime to Humberside Police on 2 June 2023. Officers arrested Robinson two days later. During police interviews, Robinson initially claimed he had done nothing wrong before eventually entering a guilty plea at court.

Following the admission of guilt, the presiding judge adjourned proceedings to allow for pre-sentence reports to be compiled. Robinson was remanded in custody and is scheduled to be sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court on 11 December.
