David Niblett, aged 42, of Uxbridge Road, Uxbridge, Greater London, was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment with an additional one-year extended licence at Portsmouth Crown Court on Friday, 14 August 2026, after pleading guilty to two counts of raping a child under the age of 13.

The court heard that Niblett carried out the abuse between January 2014 and December 2015 in West Sussex. The female victim was aged between six and eight years old at the time the offences were committed. The incidents were brought to the attention of Sussex Police after the victim disclosed the abuse to a family member, who subsequently contacted law enforcement.

Upon learning that a police investigation had commenced in 2015, Niblett fled the United Kingdom to Spain in an attempt to evade prosecution. Sussex Police coordinated an international operation alongside Interpol, Spanish law enforcement authorities, and the National Crime Agency’s extradition unit. Following the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice, Niblett was located and apprehended in Spain on 30 December 2025 before being formally extradited back to the UK.

Appearing at Portsmouth Crown Court on 15 June 2026, Niblett entered formal guilty pleas to two counts of rape of a girl under the age of 13.

On 14 August 2026, the presiding judge sentenced Niblett to a total custodial term of 15 years’ imprisonment, alongside an additional one year to be served on licence upon release. The court also made Niblett subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
