In 2021, William Walls, a then-51-year-old man from Cowdenbeath, was jailed for 11 months and handed a historic 100-year non-harassment order after being convicted of stalking two women following his release from prison for child rape.
William Walls, of Cowdenbeath, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on 24 May 2021, where he was convicted of stalking. The court heard that Walls was previously sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow in 2017 to seven years in prison for raping and sexually abusing two young girls aged between four and twelve. Following his release on licence in November 2020 after serving three years of that sentence, Walls engaged in a campaign of stalking against two women.
The sheriff jailed Walls for 11 months and imposed a 100-year non-harassment order, prohibiting him from approaching either woman, entering Stenhouse Street in Cowdenbeath, or visiting any street where either victim resides for the next century.
Following his previous convictions for child rape and his subsequent stalking conviction, Walls remains on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
He also remains subject to statutory public protection notification requirements, lifetime licence conditions, and long-term risk management by law enforcement upon any eventual release from prison.
