Detectives from all over the nation have been gathering DNA samples in an effort to identify the man who raped two women in south London.

Additionally, Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £10,000 for anonymous information that leads to the man’s conviction.

CCTV VIDEO OF THE SUSPECT

On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, more than two years ago, Met officers opened an inquiry after a lady was raped on Sewell Road in Abbey Wood.

The vulnerable victim was led to a deserted spot by the perpetrator, as seen on camera, and shortly after, she called the police to report that she had been raped.

Subsequent investigations linked the suspect shown in the CCTV film to a comparable crime committed in May 2020 near the Thames Path in Thamesmead that involved another vulnerable woman.

Specialised Met officers and other agencies have continued to provide support to the victims.

Momentum behind this complicated investigation has been ongoing, with investigators carrying out significant enquiries utilising DNA matches from the scenes of both investigations.

A team of committed officers has been sifting through a list of men who share familial DNA to rule out or identify potential suspects. This familial DNA list was created by the National Crime Agency, which has been supporting this inquiry.

To collect voluntary evidence samples from members of the public who might be biologically related to the suspect, officers have visited several locations across the nation.

A picture of a man, the investigating officers would like to speak with about the investigation, is also being circulated.

If you recognise this man or have any information that could assist the investigation, please call police on 101 or tweet @MetCC and give reference CAD 3842/30JUN2026
