Nicholas Jones, the paedophile from Chester, has been jailed for over 5 years after indulging in internet child sex offences.

On Monday, June 29, Nicholas Jones appeared at Chester Crown Court and was sentenced to five years and three months in jail, with a five-year extended license.

Jones, of Canal Side, Chester, was mandated to sign on to the Sex Offender’s Register indefinitely in addition to receiving a jail sentence.

The sentencing comes after Jones pleaded guilty to:

  • Four counts of making an indecent photograph of a child;
  • two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child;
  • two counts of attempting to incite a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity;
  • distributing an indecent photograph of a child;
  • attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act;
  • and the breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Jones also pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis.

During his appearance, Chester Crown Court was informed that Jones had received a Sexual Harm Prevention Order after being found guilty in 2019.

This injunction forbade him from installing encryption software, erasing data and history from any of his devices, or having any unsupervised communication with anyone under the age of sixteen.

On Tuesday, 2 January 2026, Cheshire police were approached by an individual reporting that Jones had been talking with a decoy account of a 12-year-old girl they had constructed.

The reporting person went on to state that Jones set up a social media account to talk to the ‘child’, had sought to engage in sexual communication with them and sent multiple sexualised photographs and videos to them.

Officers arrived at Jones’ address quickly and took him into custody. Whilst inside the property, Jones pointed out to officers an amount of cannabis as well as an unregistered mobile phone. He warned the police that they would discover “loads of pictures on his phone.”

Digital forensics officers examined the phone and discovered that it had more than 320 photographs of child sexual assault.

The 55-year-old was charged with the crimes even though he did not respond to any of the interview questions.
