In 2022, Randolph Peter Conteh, the Stoke-on-Trent Paedophile, a former councillor, received a nine-year prison sentence after being convicted of rape in Stoke-on-Trent.

Randolph Peter Conteh, 63, of Stoke-on-Trent, was sentenced today (Friday, 26 August) at Derby Crown Court after a jury found him guilty of raping a female under the age of 16 during a trial in June.

He has been permanently registered on the Sex Offenders Register.

Randolph Peter Conteh was apprehended in June 2020, after an allegation of rape was reported to another police department.

The rape allegedly occurred in Stoke-on-Trent in the late 1990s. The violation happened before Randolph Peter Conteh’s tenure as a councillor at Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

Staffordshire Police initiated an investigation, and Randolph Peter Conteh was charged in May 2021, although he entered a plea of not guilty to the offence.

Detective Inspector Adrian Webb, the lead investigator in the case, stated: “The victim has demonstrated remarkable resilience and resolve throughout the investigation and trial.”

“I must commend her remarkable bravery in reporting the incident.”

A spokesperson for Stoke-on-Trent City Council stated: “Our sympathies are with the victim of this heinous crime.” The offence is historical and evidently predates Randolph Peter Conteh’s tenure as a councillor; yet, the elapsed time does not alleviate the suffering of his victim, and we commend her courage in coming forward.

Randolph Peter Conteh was a prominent public figure who occupied significant positions and duties as a city councilman. This renders this historic atrocity even more astonishing.

All councillors must adhere to rigorous ideals of public life and civic duty. We regard these principles with utmost seriousness; they are enshrined in the council’s constitution and are subject to oversight through established standards processes.
