Back in 2018, Kaylem Lewis, a Stoke on Trent Paedophile, was incarcerated after he groomed a 12-year-old girl by sending her incessant messages.

The 21-year-old had exchanged contact information with the child, whose age he was aware of, and began sending her benign messages.

However, Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court was informed that the conversation rapidly escalated to a sexual nature, with Kaylem Lewis expressing his affection for the victim and indicating that they would engage in sexual intercourse shortly.

The defendant, Kaylem Lewis, residing in Bellingham Grove, Hanley, was discovered after the girl confided in a friend, who then reported the incident at school.

Prosecutor Sati Ruck stated that the exchange of numbers resulted in subsequent text message communication between the parties. The defendant acquired 10 credits for her phone, and he persistently texted her.

On one occasion, Kaylem Lewis observed her and attempted to touch her posterior. On a different occasion, he expressed his desire to be with her in the future, complimenting her beauty and declaring his love for her.

Kaylem Lewis instructed her to be silent to others, as her age might put him in danger. On one occasion, he extended an invitation to her residence, but she declined.

The court was informed that the texts were dispatched over a two-week interval between January and February. The victim disclosed information to her buddy, who subsequently informed a school welfare official. The police were subsequently summoned, leading to Lewis’s arrest.

The examination of his mobile phone and the victims’ disclosed the text conversations exchanged between them.

Miss Ruck stated that references were made to his separation from his fiancée to pursue a relationship with her.

He asserted that she was too young to engage in any activities, although he would not impede her if she desired to proceed. He also stated that they would engage in intimacy soon.

He subsequently requested that she erase the text messages to evade detection.

Kaylem Lewis went on to plead guilty to causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

The court heard Kaylem Lewis had one previous conviction, for assault.

Stuart Muldoon, mitigating, said Lewis had struggled to explain his actions. Mr Muldoon said: He has failed to adequately explain his behaviour to himself. His relationship was going through a sour patch at the time.

He is ashamed, he is disgusted, and he is remorseful for his offending behaviour.

Judge David Fletcher sentenced Lewis to 27 months in prison. He said: There is no doubt you knew what her age was, and from almost the outset, you knew what you were doing was wrong. This was clear grooming behaviour.

A 10-year sexual harm prevention order, which restricts Kaylem Lewis’ future contact with children, was also imposed.
