Sultani Bakatash (21/03/1997) of Georgina Court, Bolton, an Afghan national, has today (03/07/2026) been convicted after an incident in Bolton in December 2025. After grooming a young girl online, Bakatash lured her and a friend to his house, gave them wine, and then sexually assaulted them.
On Saturday, 6 December 2025, cops responded to reports of a rape against two young girls in the Deane neighbourhood.
Following an exhaustive investigation headed by our Child Protection Investigation Unit (CPIU), it was determined that Bakatash had been in contact with one of the girls via Snapchat before enticing her and a friend to his residence under false pretences.
When they arrived, Bakatash provided them with a drink and assaulted them both when they were unconscious.
Following the courageous disclosure of the rape by both survivors, an investigation was started, and the police moved quickly to find and apprehend Bakatash.
The criminal fled the scene, but rapid action by our officers led to Bakatash’s capture and our custody by the early hours of Sunday morning (07/12/2025).
The perpetrator was then charged with one case of sexual assault, one count of assault by penetration, and two charges of rape of a female under the age of sixteen.
After a four-week trial at Bolton Crown Court, Bakatash was found guilty on all counts and is expected to be sentenced on Wednesday, 19 September at Bolton Crown Court.
There was no mention of deportation.
