A 49-year-old man previously convicted of acquiring and accessing indecent images of children across a 15-month period has relocated to Cheltenham and adopted new aliases.

In 2023, Anthony Insall, aged 49, of Yarm, North Yorkshire, appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court where he formally pleaded guilty to making indecent images of children across both Category A—the most severe classification of abuse imagery—and Category C.

The prosecution arose from a targeted investigation conducted by Cleveland Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team (POLIT). Specialist digital forensic examinations revealed that Insall had actively searched for and downloaded child sexual abuse content over an extended timeframe lasting at least 15 months.

Speaking following his conviction in court, Detective Constable Barnes highlighted the ongoing harm generated by the illicit trade in abuse material:
“Anthony Insall searched for indecent images and content on the internet. He was found to have accessed the child abuse material over, at least, a 15-month period.”The behaviour committed by Insall, and those who commit crime of a similar nature, is entirely abhorrent and causes significant harm to vulnerable children.”Whilst this is an online offence, there are real victims out there living with the scars of abuse in this cycle of suffering. People who commit crimes of this nature are not invisible and we will ensure we do everything possible to bring them to justice.”

Insall was committed for sentencing alongside statutory registration on the Sex Offenders Register and protective order conditions.

Information has now emerged indicating that Insall, also known historically as Tony Innsole, is residing in the Cheltenham area of Gloucestershire. He is actively using the names David Anthony James and Tony James, an identity shift that conceals his previous convictions for child sexual offences.
