In July 2026, North Wales Police announced AN AMAZING new safeguarding initiative partnering with Amazon to provide emergency grab bags for survivors fleeing domestic abuse across the region.
The scheme supplies 30 emergency grab bags stocked with essential items to police stations across North Wales. Designed for both adults and children who are forced to leave abusive situations with no personal belongings, the bags contain toiletries, writing materials, comfort items, and a mobile phone to offer immediate relief, practical aid, and dignity during the critical initial hours after fleeing.
Detective Sergeant Sally White highlighted that victims often escape with only the clothes they are wearing, emphasising that the initiative delivers practical support while sending a clear message that survivors are supported and valued. The initiative forms part of North Wales Police’s broader commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals alongside statutory support services and domestic abuse charities.
Members of the public experiencing domestic abuse can access confidential support via the National Domestic Abuse Helpline at 0808 2000 247 or report non-emergencies to North Wales Police on 101.
In immediate danger, individuals should call 999 or use the Silent Solution by pressing 55 when speaking aloud would pose a safety risk.
