In 2021, a 12-year-old victim of sexual assault was sexually assaulted by a “sinister” sexual predator, Matthew Barber, who captured explicit images of children. The perpetrator was incarcerated.

Matthew Barber, 28, also assumed the identity of a schoolchild to persuade a 15-year-old girl to transmit him an explicit video of herself.

Nottinghamshire Police were informed that Barber had been accessing indecent images online from his residence.

Barber was apprehended, and subsequent investigations revealed that he had sexually assaulted a girl and captured images of her while she was asleep.

Barber, who resides on Russell Street in Loughborough, was apprehended by the police in June of last year while they were investigating the images.

On February 18, 2021, at Nottingham Crown Court, the 28-year-old entered a plea of guilty to three counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, sexually assaulting a child, and creating indecent images of children.

He was sentenced to a total of seven and a half years.
