In 2021, the Offender Register confirmed that a twisted paedophile repeatedly raped a 13-year-old girl after he groomed her and trapped her in his van.
Over the course of a year, Gary Healey, then 61, from Tyldesley in Greater Manchester, assaulted his victim on five or six separate occasions.
At the age of 11, the grandfather attempted to kiss the girl before transporting her to her aunt and uncle’s residence.
“As time progressed, he progressed from kissing her to holding onto her head while kissing her on the mouth until she was approximately 12 years old. At that point, he instructed her to enter the rear of the van, and she was both frightened and obedient,” Charlotte Johnson, the prosecutor, stated at Manchester Crown Court.
It was alleged that Healey directed the girl to sit on a box in the rear of the van before removing his trousers and underpants.
He subsequently instructed her to stand up and remove her trousers, stating that if she did not, he would do so for her.
The girl was “silent, frightened, and experiencing sick feelings” as he touched her chest.
Healey subsequently violated his victim and informed her that she “liked it” and “not to be shy.”
Healey attempted to sexually violate the girl after she reached the age of 14, but she resisted.
She declined his request to continue, and he responded, “Well, you seem to enjoy it.”
He persisted in his attempts to harass her, asserting, “You will not permit me to kiss you on the cheek; I care for you deeply, and I will never cause you harm.”
Following a conversation with her companions, the girl disclosed the horrors of the offences.
Healey was convicted of sexual assault and rape and sentenced to 14 years in prison. He must serve nine years and four months before being eligible for release on parole.
Additionally, he was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for a period of 15 years and is required to register on the Sex Offender’s Register indefinitely.
In her sentencing statement, Judge Rachel Smith stated, “The court was presented with a recording of you and the genuine nature of your conversation with her during the trial.” You were coercive and domineering.
