Following a police raid on the “first gay dads” extravagant property one month ago, reality TV star Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, who is 57 years old, and his lover, Scott Hutchinson, who is 32 years old, were taken into custody.

They were brought before the Chelmsford Crown Court today, where they were accused of several offences, including rape, sexual assault, and trafficking in modern slavery for the purpose of sexual exploitation.

The alleged offences, which are believed to have occurred in Essex and Manchester between April 2013 and January of this year, are reported to have been committed by four separate men.

During their appearance before the court today, they were not asked to enter pleas; rather, they were remanded in custody until a further hearing on September 7th, at which point they will be asked to enter pleas.

An additional 18 alleged offences were brought against the couple, according to the Essex Police, who announced this information before their court appearance.

The police department reported that Barrie Drewitt-Barlow had been charged with an additional 15 instances of alleged criminal activity.

Among these are five counts of rape, four counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual activity with a minor, two counts of paying for sexual services of a child, five counts of rape, four counts of sexual assault, inducing an individual to participate in sexual activity without consent, and creating or inciting sexual activity.

Additionally, Scott Hutchinson has been charged with two counts of rape and one count of inducing or instigating sexual conduct. These charges were brought against him in separate proceedings.

It is anticipated that the trial will begin on January 18, 2027, and the prosecutor, Louise Oakley KC, stated that the trial will last between eight and ten weeks.

It was previously brought to the attention of the court that the couple reportedly “recruited” young men before subsequently grooming them and subjecting them to sexual assaults, including rape.

The prosecutor, Serena Berry, referred to the two individuals as “people who could be considered celebrities.” They have been featured in a number of documentaries and reality television series, and they lead lifestyles worth multiple millions of pounds.

In addition, she mentioned that they are the owners of the Maldon and Tiptree football club, in addition to other businesses in the Essex region, as well as businesses in other nations.

“It is alleged that both of them have targeted young males, that they have recruited them, that they have befriended them, and that they have groomed them,” the prosecutor continued their statement. They have extended invitations to visit them at their residence and at other locations.

The charges against Barrie Drewitt-Barlow included three counts of sexual assault on a male, four counts of rape on a man aged 16 or older, and two counts of arranging or assisting the trip of another individual with the intention of exploiting them.

The charges against Scott Drewitt-Barlow included one act of sexual assault on a male, one crime of rape on a man aged 16 or older, and two counts of arranging or assisting the trip of another individual with the intention of exploiting them.

Drewitt-Barlow purchased Maldon and Tiptree FC, a non-league club, in February of 2022. He was also scheduled to participate in a forthcoming documentary about the club that would be broadcast on ITV.

On the other hand, ITV has decided to remove the series, which was titled Up The Jammers, after the nickname given to the squad itself.

It was a result of the police conducting a raid on Drewitt-Barlow Stadium the day before, which was in response to the arrest of the couple.

Barrie and his ex-partner Tony made history in 1999 when they became the first gay fathers in the United Kingdom to have twins named Saffron and Aspen.

The couple was permitted to have the names “parent one” and “parent two” for their same-sex parents on their birth certificates rather of the traditional “mother and father” designation.

It was a landmark lawsuit for the LGBTQ community on a historical level.

Using the donated eggs of one woman, Tracie McCune, the twins were created, and then they were carried in the womb of another woman, Rosalind Bellany, to complete their development.

Barrie and Tony have never disclosed which of their children is the biological father of which of their twins, despite the fact that they each fathered a child.

In 2019, the pair decided to part ways after Barrie admitted that he had developed feelings for Saffron’s former boyfriend.
