In 2021, Ashley Wright, a then 26-year-old woman from Wigston, was jailed following a police investigation into offences involving a position of trust.
Ashley Wright, of Wigston, Leicestershire, was sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on Tuesday, 22 June 2021 to two years and two months in prison after pleading guilty to charges including abuse of position and offences involving a child.
The offences occurred between May 2019 and January 2020 while Wright was employed as a Secure Care Officer at a training facility. Detailed enquiries revealed she had abused her professional position to engage in illicit contact with the victim both inside the facility and in surrounding areas. Detectives established that her actions represented a severe breach of safeguard protocols intended to protect young people in custody. The prosecution highlighted how she exploited her role of authority over a vulnerable youth.
In addition to her custodial sentence, she was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years. Furthermore, Wright was added to the Disclosure and Barring Service list to prevent any future employment in regulated roles.
