Lewis Davison, then aged 26, of Lichfield, Staffordshire, was sentenced to two years and two months’ imprisonment at Stafford Crown Court after pleading guilty to producing and disseminating AI-generated indecent images depicting women and a child.
The sentencing followed an investigation by Staffordshire Police launched after officers received reports detailing illicit media circulating across encrypted messaging channels.
The court heard that Davison sourced photographs of women and a young female child and processed them through artificial intelligence software to generate explicit, pornographic, and indecent representations.
Davison then distributed the fabricated media across closed Telegram groups.
In addition to sharing the imagery, Davison authored captions beneath several of the photographs calling for the women shown to be subjected to rape and violent physical assaults.
Police officers executed an operation at Davison’s home address, arresting him and confiscating his computing equipment and mobile devices for digital examination.
Due to the conclusive digital forensic evidence recovered by investigators, Davison admitted his culpability across all charges:
- Eight counts of publishing an obscene article
- One count of permitting the taking of a pseudo-photograph of a child
Investigating officer PC Matthew Asbury stated that law enforcement acted swiftly to prevent Davison from inflicting ongoing psychological trauma on women and children online, affirming that officers will relentlessly pursue those utilizing emerging digital tools to commit sexual offences.
On Thursday, 27 August, the presiding judge sentenced Davison to an immediate custodial term of two years and two months (26 months).
In addition to his custodial sentence, Davison was ordered to comply with the statutory notification requirements of the Sex Offenders Register for a duration of ten years.
Release Calculation: Under UK sentencing legislation governing standard determinate custodial sentences, Davison is required to serve one-half (13 months / one year and one month) of his 26-month sentence in prison custody before becoming eligible for automatic statutory release on licence. Following his release, Davison will remain subject to licence conditions and supervision by the Probation Service in the community until the full 26-month term concludes.
