On Thursday, 8 January 2026, the Offender Database reported that Akib Aslam, 32, was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh to 12 years in prison. Aslam was convicted of a series of “despicable” and serious sexual assaults against two women in the Forth Valley area.

The court heard that Aslam’s predatory offending took place in Larbert and Hallglen between 2022 and 2023. Detective Inspector Graeme Connolly described Aslam as an “abusive individual” who caused “immense harm” to his victims. Following a trial in December 2025, a jury found him guilty of multiple counts of serious sexual assault. The prosecution highlighted the sustained nature of his attacks and the significant psychological impact on the survivors.

Akib Aslam was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Police Scotland emphasised that tackling such offending remains a top priority, and they praised the victims for their courage in coming forward. Aslam was also made subject to an indefinite non-harassment order to protect the women involved.

As a result of his convictions for serious sexual violence, Aslam has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life. He is managed under the highest level of Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) in the Forth Valley area. This framework ensures that upon any eventual release, Police Scotland and social work services will maintain permanent, intensive monitoring of his residency and movements to safeguard the community.
