In 2021, Martin Woods, THEN a 42-year-old former dock worker from Hadleigh, was jailed for 15 years after raping a child under 13 and filming the abuse.
Martin Woods, of Guthrum Road, Hadleigh, pleaded guilty at Ipswich Crown Court to seven offences involving two victims, including rape of a child under 13, sexual assault of a child under 13, two counts of taking indecent images of a child, and three counts of making indecent images of children. The court heard that the abuse took place in 2020.
Suffolk Constabulary arrested Woods following a disclosure from one of the victims. Forensic examination of digital devices seized from his home revealed images depicting Woods abusing both girls, alongside downloaded Category A, B, and C child abuse material and extensive search histories targeting prepubescent children.
Judge Emma Peters classified Woods as a dangerous offender, sentencing him to 15 years in prison with an extended licence period of six years.
Following his convictions, Woods was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and made subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
