In 2021, John Ridley, THEN a 65-year-old retired stockbroker from Barnet, was jailed after being convicted of molesting two boys over 20 years.
John Ridley, of Leicester Road, Barnet, was found guilty at Southwark Crown Court of three counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual touching against two victims. The court heard that Ridley used his positions at a north London tennis club and a church-run youth charity to gain access to young boys between 1987 and 2008. He exploited the victims through financial leverage, forcing them into secluded locations or his home, where he subjected them to physical and sexual abuse. National Crime Agency (NCA) officers arrested Ridley at Heathrow Airport in February 2018, later finding over 2,000 indecent images of young boys on his electronic devices before the victims came forward.
The judge sentenced Ridley to a term of imprisonment at Southwark Crown Court.
Following his convictions, Ridley was placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely and made subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) barring him from working with children or vulnerable adults.
He also remains subject to statutory public protection notification requirements, licence conditions, and risk management monitoring by law enforcement upon release.
