In 2021, Adeyinka Oluwaseyi Ajose, a then 64-year-old man from Croydon, was jailed following a police investigation into serious sexual offences against a child.
Adeyinka Oluwaseyi Ajose, of Croydon, was sentenced at Croydon Crown Court on Thursday, 17 June 2021 to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to four counts of rape of a child under 13, sexual assault, and ill-treatment of a child.
Police were called to an address in Addington in November 2020 following disclosures made by the victim regarding abuse that had occurred over several months. Officers located and arrested Ajose near the location the following day, leading to a swift and thorough police enquiry. Specialist officers provided continuous support to the victim while gathering overwhelming physical and testimonial evidence to present to the court. The investigation highlighted the crucial nature of rapid police response when historical or ongoing abuse is reported.
