In 2021, Steven Thomas Scott, a then-39-year-old man from Chiltern Green, was handed a nine-month suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to possessing and distributing over 5,000 indecent images of children.
Steven Thomas Scott, of Chiltern Green, appeared at Southampton Crown Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of a child, one count of distributing indecent photographs of a child, and one count of possessing a prohibited image of a child. The court heard that between April and December 2019, Scott used a file-sharing network to access and distribute thousands of indecent images ranging from Category A to Category C, as well as nearly 300 prohibited photos and videos of children. Police identified Scott during a targeted online investigation into users of file-sharing software.
Judge Peter Henry described the images as “disturbing and revolting” but noted a realistic prospect of rehabilitation. He sentenced Scott to nine months in prison, suspended for two years, alongside 43 sex offender group work sessions, 60 rehabilitation activity days, and 100 hours of unpaid work.
Following his convictions for child sexual abuse material, Scott was placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
He also remains subject to statutory public protection notification requirements and ongoing risk management protocols by law enforcement.
