In 2021, Logan Chapman, a then-21-year-old man from Fife, was placed on the Sex Offenders Register after admitting to taking or making thousands of indecent child abuse images.
Logan Chapman, of Allan Park, Hill of Beath, appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, where he pleaded guilty to taking or making indecent images of children at an address in Cowdenbeath between 1 February 2018 and 17 June 2020. The court heard that Police Scotland officers executed a search warrant at his family home and recovered a computer system unit from a bedroom Chapman shared with his younger brother. Analysis revealed nearly 2,000 indecent images, including 217 Category A images depicting extreme abuse, alongside search terms used to locate the material via an anonymous browser. When confronted, Chapman claimed he was “researching” to report offences before admitting he needed help.
The sheriff deferred sentence for pre-sentencing reports and ordered that Chapman be placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
Following his conviction for child sexual abuse offences, Chapman was placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
He also remains subject to statutory public protection notification requirements and to long-term risk management by law enforcement, regardless of any eventual outcome or subsequent court sentencing.
