In 2021, David Long, a then 74-year-old man formerly of Loughborough, completed a custodial sentence following a police investigation into sexual offences and illicit material involving children.
David Long was previously sentenced to six years and eight months in prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of sexual touching and possessing prohibited digital media.
A police search of his property recovered extensive photographic files and journals detailing his offending against young girls in Nottingham city centre between 2003 and 2016. Officers uncovered a detailed catalogue of evidence that demonstrated the systematic nature of his crimes over many years. Investigators were appalled by the meticulous records he kept regarding his actions, which ultimately provided the prosecution with irrefutable proof. The sheer volume of documented offences demonstrated an alarming degree of planning and premeditation. In addition to the main charges, he asked for a further 186 related incidents to be taken into consideration by the court.
Long has since been released from custody following the completion of his custodial sentence. However, he remains subject to strict ongoing legal restrictions and close supervision by local authorities.
