In 2021, Robert Louw, a then 27-year-old man from Tilston, was jailed following an investigation into sexual offences involving a position of trust.
Robert Louw, of Rookery Road, Tilston, Malpas, was sentenced at Mold Crown Court on Friday, 18 June 2021 to 42 months in prison after pleading guilty to four counts of sexual activity involving a child.
Louw, who conducted private lessons in the Wrexham area, abused his position of authority to target the young victim during instruction sessions. Investigating officers launched an extensive appeal following his conviction to ensure any further potential victims could be supported and come forward. Officers praised the courage of those involved in helping to remove a predator from a position where he had direct access to young people. Law enforcement agencies emphasised the critical importance of public vigilance regarding instructors and educators.
He was placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely following his conviction. Furthermore, he was barred from working with children or vulnerable adults for life, alongside an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
