In 2026, the Offender Register confirmed that Sean Sewell, A Newtown Paedophile, was incarcerated after being apprehended by police in Birmingham mere minutes following an assault on a girl.
Sean Sewell, a resident of Newtown, was also found guilty of a prior indecent exposure in the city.
On April 8, 2019, the 46-year-old was apprehended approximately 20 minutes after a 10-year-old girl reported that a male had inappropriately touched her in a pub located in the city centre.
Officers promptly responded and initiated an investigation to identify the perpetrator.
Detectives from our Public Protection Unit conducted numerous enquiries, resulting in Sewell’s detention and subsequent interrogation.
Subsequently, they were able to establish a connection between Sewell and an incident that occurred on a bus in the city centre in October of the previous year. A woman reported that a man had exposed himself to her.
Sewell was charged with sexual assault of a child and exposure after a thorough investigation.
He entered a guilty plea to both charges and was sentenced to six years and five months in prison at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday, July 10. Additionally, he will be placed on the sex offender register for the duration of his life.
