In 2022, the Offender Register reported that Martin Gill, a Crewe PAEDOPHILE, has been incarcerated after he confessed to sexually assaulting a young girl in Cheshire.
Martin Gill was sentenced to ten years in prison at Chester Crown Court on Friday, November 18.
Following his court appearance, the 49-year-old resident of Clair Street in Crewe was found guilty of 15 offences.
Gill was also required to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely, in addition to his prison sentence.
The investigation, which is known as Operation Sideband, commenced on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, when police were informed that a category A indecent image had been uploaded to the internet.
The address of the user who uploaded the image was successfully identified by detectives. On Sunday, May 5, 2019, Gill was apprehended, and his home in Crewe was searched.
During the raid, officers retrieved a number of electronic devices that were subsequently discovered to contain over 2,000 indecent images of children and voyeuristic videos that were secretly recorded of teenage girls.
Gill confessed to participating in group chats in which members would exchange indecent images of children during interrogation.
During the examination of the devices, detectives uncovered a folder containing images and videos of a young girl in her school uniform that Gill had taken.
The victim, who disclosed a number of sexual offences committed by Gill, was promptly identified by detectives after conducting extensive enquiries.
Gill was subsequently charged with 15 offences and pleaded guilty to each.
