The Barking Rapist, Daniel Jordan, was given a prison sentence in 2024 for sexually abusing and strangling a lady in an alleyway behind a row of businesses in Barking. DNA testing revealed that 28-year-old Daniel Jordan was a known criminal.
Following Daniel Jordan’s violent and protracted assault in Barking in October 2022, the victim has been receiving support from a team that specialises in sexual assault investigations. The victim reported to the police that she had been raped and that her attacker had fled the area.
To help the victim and gather important evidence, the police intervened quickly.
She told the police that in an alleyway behind a row of shops on Longbridge Road, a man had confronted her and quickly started a violent physical and sexual assault. She described how he had asphyxiated her, causing her to lose and then regain consciousness.
This was a heinous assault, and I hold the highest regard for the victim survivor, as she has endeavoured to reconcile with the severe violence she endured,” said Detective Sergeant Charlie Yexley, who is assigned to the Met Police’s east London section for the investigation of sexual offences.
“I hope it gives some comfort that a jury clearly recognised this man for his true nature, and she has shown poise and resilience throughout this ordeal.”
Seven days after the attack, officers quickly arrested him at his home. The following day, Daniel Jordan was charged and taken into custody.
Daniel Jordan was found guilty of non-fatal strangling and assault on 15 March at Snaresbrook Crown Court. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, a five-year extended licence period and 30 months in prison.
Daniel Jordan will serve both sentences concurrently and be permanently classified as a sexual offender. A team of experts in the investigation of sexual assaults has provided help to the woman.
