In 2026, the Offender Database reported that Jon-Paul Fayle, 32, of Douglas, Isle of Man, was jailed for nearly 19 years following a “vicious” and “sustained” sexual assault. Fayle appeared for sentencing at the Court of General Gaol Delivery on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, where his “prolonged ordeal” against a woman was detailed in full.
The “serious” attack occurred over several hours between November 24 and November 25, 2023, at an address in Douglas. The court heard how Fayle “callously” ignored the victim’s repeated pleas for him to stop. He subjected her to a “repetitive cycle” of violence, which included choking her multiple times and carrying out several indecent assaults. At one point, the victim reported that she “thought she was going to die.”
The “Harrowing” Ordeal and Victim Impact
During the “vile” incident, Fayle “dishonestly” locked the victim inside the property and hid the key to prevent her escape. In a desperate attempt to call for help, she even tried to throw a television through a window. She was only able to escape the following morning by claiming she was going to a shop, where she immediately alerted staff and the police.
In a “heart-wrenching” victim impact statement, the survivor emphasised that the attack had “destroyed” her confidence and made even basic daily tasks a struggle. She reported that Fayle’s refusal to take responsibility angered her, but she remained determined to become stronger, stating, “I am not a monster like him.”
Sentence and Lifelong Monitoring
Deemster Graeme Cook emphasised that Fayle had shown “no remorse” and was the “only liar” throughout the trial. For the “serious” lead offence of rape, Fayle was sentenced to 18 years and nine months in prison. He was also found guilty of attempted rape and three counts of indecent assault.
As a result of his “vicious” convictions, Jon-Paul Fayle has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life. He was also made subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). Upon his eventual release, he will be managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by the Isle of Man Constabulary, ensuring his behaviour in Douglas and across the island is strictly monitored. Any future “vile” conduct or breach of his SHPO will result in immediate arrest.
