In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Christopher Reynolds, then 57, of Poplar Road, Taunton, Somerset, was convicted of a series of vile sexual offences against underage girls. Reynolds, a former radio and television DJ who had worked for Apple FM and the defunct Taunton TV, was found guilty at Taunton Crown Court. The jury convicted him of six indecent assaults on a girl aged under 16 and one count of indecent assault against a girl under 12, following a serious two-week trial that exposed his predatory behaviour.
The court heard that Christopher Reynolds used his career as a DJ to gain access to his victims, taking one girl to discos where he worked in Bridgwater, Somerset, to facilitate the horrendous abuse. He met his second victim through his role at Taunton TV, inviting her to his home and meeting her in the town centre. On the day of the verdict, Reynolds attempted a deplorable act of deception by failing to appear in court and falsely claiming to have taken an overdose when police broke down his door in Taunton, Somerset.
Judge David Ticehurst remanded Christopher Reynolds in custody, making it clear that the only possible outcome for such sickening crimes was an immediate and lengthy prison sentence. The judge dismissed the need for reports regarding his mental state after assessors found no concerns, noting that the horrific nature of the “discos” grooming was a serious aggravating factor. Reynolds’ former partner, Julia Wildman of Wellington, Somerset, was acquitted alongside him on a separate charge of witness intimidation.
As a result of his convictions for these vile sexual crimes, Christopher Reynolds was eventually sentenced to ten years in prison. He was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and was made subject to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). He is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Avon and Somerset Police, remaining under intensive supervision for the duration of his life. Any further predatory behaviour or breach of his strict registration requirements in Taunton, Bridgwater, or elsewhere will result in his immediate arrest.
