In 2025, the Offender Database reported that David Robinson, then 36, of Ashbrooke, Sunderland, was sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court. The former NHS worker was jailed for over three years after an investigation revealed he had exchanged hundreds of sexually explicit messages with a schoolboy.
The court heard that David Robinson, who was working in a clinical role at an NHS trust at the time, targeted the young victim over a five-month period in 2024. Using a social media platform, Robinson initiated conversations that quickly escalated into highly inappropriate and sexualized communication. The investigation found that he had sent and received hundreds of messages, exploiting the victim’s age and vulnerability for his own sexual gratification.
The abuse was uncovered when the victim’s family discovered the messages and alerted Northumbria Police. During his police interview, David Robinson admitted to the communications but initially attempted to downplay the extent of his actions. However, forensic analysis of his mobile devices provided overwhelming evidence of the sustained nature of the grooming. His employment with the NHS was terminated immediately following the allegations.
On December 19, 2025, David Robinson was sentenced to three years and six months in prison. He had previously pleaded guilty to charges of sexual communication with a child and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. Judge Edward Bindloss noted that Robinson had breached the high level of trust expected of a healthcare professional and that his actions had caused significant emotional distress to the victim and his family.
In addition to his custodial sentence, David Robinson was made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for 10 years and was ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
