In 2022, a convicted Moldovan murderer and British Guest, Sergiu Boianjiu, the Wellingborough Rapist, was sentenced to a minimum of 26 years for the rape and attempted murder of a white English lady whom he abandoned for dead in an alleyway.
Sergiu Boianjiu, 38, assaulted the woman when she was walking home in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, in February.
The trial revealed that he was incarcerated in 2009 for the death of his girlfriend in his native Moldova.
Judge David Herbert KC imposed a life sentence at Northampton Crown Court.
Sergiu Boianjiu, residing on Melton Road North in Wellingborough, was convicted on both charges but acquitted of a second charge of rape.
Sergiu Boianjiu had already confessed to attempted rape.
The Moldovan citizen arrived in Britain after serving a decade for the murder of his partner in the former Soviet country in 2002.
Authorities reported that before Sergiu Boianjiu assaulted his victim, he was expelled from a bar for pestering women.
Sergiu Boianjiu was recorded on CCTV in Wellingborough while he raped and then stamped on the skull of his defenceless victim lying on the ground.
Footage additionally depicted Sergiu Boianjiu, who believed he had slain his victim, departing the site to retrieve a wheelie bin in which he attempted to conceal her body.
A bystander found her after several hours exposed to the rain and cold.
The jury learnt that the woman was assaulted while returning home from an evening out and endured a 40-minute ordeal, resulting in a life-threatening brain injury.
The judge stated to Sergiu Boianjiu: “You repeatedly struck her head while she was unconscious.”
“The evidence clearly indicates that after administering an additional six strikes, you believed you had effectively killed her.”
The judge stated that Sergiu Boianjiu was exhibiting evident thought while attempting to conceal the offence by seeking evidence that could implicate him.
“Based on the evidence presented, my evaluation is that you are a highly perilous individual,” he stated.
Detective Chief Inspector Liz Wilcox stated: “This case has been profoundly distressing for the young woman… she has demonstrated remarkable bravery throughout our investigation, and I hope that, with the assistance of her strong support network, she will be able to progress.”
“Sergiu Boianjiu poses a significant threat to women.”
