Dominic Carter, the Transgender Southsea Paedophile, incarcerated for possessing child sexual abuse photographs, has expressed dissatisfaction with the “distress” of being assigned to a male prison facility.

Dominic Carter, 40, transitioned gender following police charges and appeared in court attired in pink, identifying as Sophie.

The transgender woman absconded from prison in 2023 after being apprehended with illicit photos of minors.

Dominic Carter, from Southsea, Hampshire, has subsequently appeared in court four additional times after receiving a suspended sentence.

The sex offender has been sentenced to six months in prison for violating court orders upon conviction.

Eve Shelley, for the defence, informed Southampton Crown Court that Dominic Carter was incarcerated at HMP Winchester, a Category B men’s correctional facility.

She stated: “There are further challenges regarding this specific defendant’s confinement in a male environment, which is causing her distress and concern.”

During the hearing, in which Dominic Carter was addressed with female pronouns, the court was informed that following the 2023 conviction, the former tree surgeon neglected to attend probation appointments.

The police discovered that Dominic Carter was no longer residing at the residence previously registered after the paedophile contacted the authorities and feigned abduction.

Hannah Douglas, representing the prosecution, stated at the hearing: “Ms Dominic Carter communicated that they had been abducted and detained… and requested £140 for their release into a bank account.”

The prosecutor stated that officers communicated with Dominic Carter throughout the day until they ultimately apprehended the defendant.

“It was found she failed to comply with notification requirements, having left her registered address,” Ms Douglas said. “We say it’s a deliberate breach.”

The court heard Dominic Carter also failed to comply with a suspended sentence order and community order, which had been imposed after the 2023 conviction. Carter pleaded guilty to all three offences.

Judge Nicholas Rowland sentenced Dominic Carter to six months in prison.

He said: “Sophie Carter… I have no choice but to impose an immediate custody sentence.

“I appreciate that your lifestyle is chaotic. The last thing I want to do is to have to send you to prison for these offences. I have given full credit for your plea.

“I have much hope that now that this slate is wiped clean, there won’t be another one in the future. You need to sort this out; otherwise, you will go to prison for longer and longer periods.”
