A Cwmbran Paedophile, Joshua Bennett, from Cwmbran, is confronting an extended prison term after confessing to the sexual abuse of a girl under the age of 13.
Joshua Bennett, 32, of Tewdric Court, Croesyceiliog, admitted guilt to three grave counts at Newport Crown Court:
- Assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration
- Assaulting a girl under 13 by touching
- Causing/inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity
The pervert refused to admit his guilt, which forced the young victim into giving numerous police interviews and statements as a trial neared.
However, Joshua Bennett finally admitted to all the offences just before his trial was due to begin, after his barrister advised him that if he was found guilty, then he would get a longer sentence.
Judge Daniel Williams remanded Joshua Bennett in custody ahead of his sentencing, which is scheduled for 9th September.
UPDATE 10.10.25
Joshua Bennett, the Cwmbran Paedophile, described as a “churchgoing” individual, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for sexually assaulting a young girl and causing her significant suffering.

Joshua Bennett, 32, from Cwmbran, donned a substantial cross around his neck during his appearance at Cardiff Crown Court for sentencing this morning.
Judge Daniel Williams stated, “Your days of portraying yourself as a virtuous individual are over.”
On the day of his trial in July, the defendant confessed to assaulting a girl under 13 through penetration, assaulting a girl under 13 through touching, and forcing or persuading a child under 13 to participate in sexual behaviour.
In a victim impact statement, the girl told the court: “I continue to suffer in many ways.”
She highlighted her mental health struggles and the sleepless nights she endures.
“He has inflicted immense pain and abuse,” she revealed.
The girl’s mother told the court her daughter had suffered “horrendous sexual abuse” and added that she felt “broken” by what had happened to her child.
Judge Williams said to Joshua Bennett: “You say you are a churchgoer, and today it is conspicuous that you are wearing a large crucifix.
“Your days of presenting yourself as a virtuous man are long gone.”
The judge added: “In your pre-sentence report, you sought to minimise your behaviour and not take responsibility for your actions.
“You deny feeling a sexual attraction to children – you pose a high risk of harm to children.”
Joshua Bennett, of Tewdric Court, Croesyceiliog, Cwmbran, was made the subject of an extended sentence for the protection of the public.
The defendant was handed a prison term of 13 years and six months plus an extended licence period of four years.
Joshua Bennett’s total sentence, therefore, was 17 years and six months.
Joshua Bennett will have to serve two-thirds of his 13 years and six months in jail before being eligible for parole.
He will have to register as a sex offender for life and pay a statutory victim surcharge when he is released.
Judge Williams praised the victim’s courage in coming forward.
