A well-known Wood End child and animal abuser from Coventry, Mark Lonsdale, has finally been brought to some kind of justice and has received a ten-year prohibition on animal ownership due to the starvation and extreme physical and sexual abuse of his two dogs.
Mark Lonsdale was reported to have inflicted ‘unnecessary agony’ on his pets, Zeus and Storm.
Concerns were expressed regarding Lonsdale, a resident of Wood End, regarding his two pets in February.
Both dogs were underweight, with their bones discernible upon rescue by the RSPCA.
Animal Rescue Officer Jack Curran initially noted Storm, who exhibited prominent hip and rib bones, a nasal discharge, elongated nails, and watery eyes.
Subsequent to reaching out to West Midlands Police, he was presented with Zeus, whose rib, hip bones, and spine were visibly exposed.
Zeus and Storm experienced ‘unnecessary’ anguish and abuse from Mark Lonsdale.
Both dogs were euthanised.
Mark Lonsdale, residing on Lillington Road in Wood End, admitted guilt to two violations of animal welfare laws and was sentenced to an eight-week suspended prison term at Coventry Magistrates’ Court.
He received a ten-year prohibition on animal ownership and was mandated to pay £154.
It is recommended that Mark Lonsdale not be allowed to be alone with animals or children.
Mark Lonsdale’s family and friends continue to support him.
