Founding member of 1970s heavy metal band Saxon Paedophile Stephen Dawson has been imprisoned for historical child rape and sexual assault. Stephen Dawson, a founding member of the 1970s heavy metal band, has been imprisoned for prior child sexual abuse. At Sheffield Crown Court, Stephen Dawson, 72, of Street Lane, Rotherham, was sentenced to five years in custody.

Early in the 1990s, his victim, then six years old, was subjected to maltreatment. At a hearing on March 21, Dawson was found guilty of four charges of indecent assault of a child under the age of fourteen.

The officer in charge of the case, Detective Constable Robert Heath, said: “Stephen Dawson thought he had got away with perpetrating these horrible acts against a young, vulnerable victim 30 years ago. She has shown incredible fortitude by stepping forward and throughout the inquiry, resulting in Dawson spending several years behind bars.

“It is evident that his evil deeds have stayed with her all her life, so I hope this sentence will help her to move on from these terrible events. This case shows precisely how severely we regard certain crimes.

“We hope this gives some encouragement that, should you have been the victim of any offence, regardless of how long ago it occurred, you should come forward and notify us. Here, we are to listen, probe, and forward the offenders before the courts.
