In 2021, Nicholas McLeavey, a then 51-year-old repeat sex offender, was jailed for eight years after being convicted of sexually abusing a five-year-old girl.
Nicholas McLeavey, known as Leon and formerly of Netherhall, Leicester, was sentenced at Leicester Crown Court to eight years in prison after being found guilty by a jury of three counts of inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity. The court heard that McLeavey carried out indecent touching against the young victim when she was aged between five and six. In a video-recorded statement, the young child detailed the abuse and explained how she eventually stopped the final assault by kicking McLeavey and moving away.
Prosecutor Siward James-Moore outlined how McLeavey planned the abuse to avoid detection, while a statement from the victim’s mother described the severe emotional distress inflicted on the child. Judge Keith Raynor highlighted McLeavey’s previous convictions from the late 1990s, which included indecent exposure, indecent assault, and inciting a 10-year-old girl to commit gross indecency, before handing down the eight-year custodial term.
In addition to his eight-year prison sentence, McLeavey was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
He was also made subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and a 10-year restraining order prohibiting any contact with the prosecution witnesses following his release.
