In 2026, the Offender Register confirmed that a 65-year-old registered sex offender, Nicholas Raisen, had been incarcerated for over five years after an unannounced police visit to his residence revealed that he had a substantial number of indecent images and videos.
In December 2017, Nicholas Raisen, a resident of Aldringham, was found guilty of three counts of creating indecent images of children. He was sentenced to eight months of imprisonment, suspended for 24 months, and subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for a period of ten years.
PPU officers requested Raisen to surrender his mobile phone for examination during an unexpected visit to his residence on October 8, 2025, in compliance with the terms of his SHPO. He initially asserted he was unaware of his phone’s location; however, it was later found in a restroom drawer.
The teams discovered a substantial amount of child sexual abuse material that had been downloaded onto the device, as well as evidence that Raisen had distributed 23 category A images/videos, two category B images/videos, and one prohibited video.
On October 23, 2025, Raisen was apprehended at his residence. A search of his address was conducted, and several devices were discovered and confiscated for analysis. Additional child sexual abuse material was discovered on the devices. Graphic sexualised chats were also observed through encrypted applications.
Yesterday, Tuesday, July 14, Raisen was sentenced to five years and four months of imprisonment at Ipswich Crown Court.
He was ordered to sign the sex offender register for life and subjected to a revised SHPO for a period of 10 years.
