Marc Corrieri, then aged 33, of Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, appeared from custody at Hamilton Sheriff Court, where he pleaded guilty to ten sexual offence charges involving six female children.
The conviction follows an investigation into predatory online conduct that spanned a six-year period.
The court heard that Corrieri utilised social media applications to establish contact with young girls aged between 13 and 17.
Corrieri engaged in persistent communications of an explicit nature, repeatedly requesting indecent photographs and videos of the victims.
The prosecution established that Corrieri paid monetary sums to secure explicit content, paying one victim £150 and another £40 to transmit photographs depicting themselves in states of undress.
Corrieri possesses a previous conviction for sexual offending dating back to September 2014, when he was sentenced to 240 hours of unpaid work and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for three years after being convicted of pestering schoolgirls for sexual purposes.
Appearing in the dock, Corrieri formally admitted:
- Ten charges under sexual offences legislation relating to six separate victims
The presiding Sheriff deferred sentence until next month to allow for the preparation of background criminal justice social work reports.
Corrieri was remanded in prison custody pending the formal sentencing hearing.
