Louis Taylor, aged 32, of no fixed address in Gravesend, Kent, has been sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday, 21 August 2026, after pleading guilty to eight serious offences including three counts of rape, kidnapping, and wounding with intent.
The criminal investigation began on Saturday, 18 October 2025, after emergency services were called to a petrol station on City Way in Rochester.
The court heard that the victim approached members of the public for help after enduring a sustained and brutal assault in Gravesend earlier that day.
During the attack, Taylor grabbed the victim by her hair and neck, dragged her around the property, and repeatedly kicked her while wearing steel toe-capped boots.
Taylor also punched the victim and struck her with a vacuum cleaner pole, inflicting severe physical injuries, before carrying out a sexual assault by penetration and raping her.
Following the ordeal, Taylor forced the victim into a vehicle and threatened to cause her further harm if she made a sound, before driving her towards Rochester.
The victim managed to escape and raise the alarm when Taylor stopped at the petrol station to refuel.
Officers from Kent Police attended the scene, safeguarded the victim, and arrested Taylor that same day.
Detectives working alongside specially trained sexual offences liaison officers carried out an extensive investigation, which uncovered evidence of previous unrecorded offences, including an earlier rape and an assault.
Faced with the evidence compiled by investigators, Taylor entered formal guilty pleas at Woolwich Crown Court to:
Three counts of rape
- One count of wounding with intent
- One count of assault by penetration
- One count of burglary with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm
- One count of attempted grievous bodily harm
- One count of kidnapping
The presiding judge handed Taylor a custodial term of 20 years’ imprisonment and ordered that he be placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.
